There will be very few people who have not been touched by the Covid-19 crisis. Many people will not know of anyone who has tested positive for this virus or any fatalities. Yet their lives are being dramatically and often detrimentally impacted on through the use of draconian measures. Before I continue I would like to point out that most of this article is going to refer to incidents or events in the United Kingdom but might use references from International sources. So how can someone be detrimentally affected by an invisible virus that may or may not have infected them? Yes contrary to what many people may think it is possible to have a virus and be asymptomatic (showing no symptoms or signs of ill-health). Governments across the world have responded to to the World Health Organisations declaration of a global pandemic by using draconian measures to curtail the spread of Covid-19. In the UK the measures imposed include: the wearing of masks in shops on public transport, hospitals and health centres. We have also had national and local lockdowns imposed on the population.
Concerns have been raised by the NHS Confederation that people will experience increasing
mental health problems. While the concern does not explicitly state that the measures themselves are to blame, it does raise questions as to whether people have started to feel more socially isolated? Interestingly the NHS Confederation makes numerous references to the NHS Reset which it describes as:
"NHS Reset is an NHS Confederation campaign to shape what the health and care system should look like in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognising the sacrifices and achievements of the COVID-19 period, it brings together NHS Confederation members and partners to look at how we rebuild local systems and reset the way we plan, commission and deliver health and care."
Delve a little deeper (not much) into the NHS Confederation and you will find that they are sponsored by Novartis a pharmaceuticals company who describe themselves as a global leader. Clearly no conflict of interest there.
There are many other health professionals who have expressed concerns about the Covid-19 measures. Professor Karol Sikora an expert in cancer care is extremely concerned that fatalities from cancer will increase due to the measures that have been implemented.
Meanwhile the International Monetary Fund has highlighted the economic impact of lockdowns. Stating that the current financial crisis will be worse than the previous financial crisis of 2008. So we can expect increasing numbers of unemployment, homelessness and food poverty as people lose their jobs in the UK.
There are many academics and health professionals questioning the policies or the science surrounding Covid-19.
The names in the image are those of people who have to some degree voiced concerns about the Covid-19 crisis and the direction of the global response or local. If any of them wish to be disassociated from this article I will be happy to remove their names. I could have spent a lot more time gathering names as these are just a few that have spoken out. Perhaps the most well known and infamous name across the globe is Dr Judy Mikovits who has found her reputation slammed on Wikipedia and many other media sources. I am not going to go into the specifics regarding Judy Mikovits but I highlighted her name to move onto my next point. On Saturday the 29th August 2020 a number of demonstrations took place protesting the lockdowns, facemasks, and mandatory vaccines. Many of the protesters will have demonstrated against all three issues some perhaps one or two. The two cities that appear to have received most publicity are Berlin and London. In Berlin Robert F. Kennedy, Jr was the primary speaker while in London the speakers included: Dr Kevin Corbett MSc PhD, Prof Dolores Cahill and Dr Iqbal Adil. Yet if you read the mainstream media what you will be told is that the protest "Unite For Freedom" was organised and attended by far right groups, fascists and conspiracy theorists with few or no references to the health professionals in attendance, why is this? There is clearly an attempt to suppress the voices of health professionals and academics who speak out. Videos are being blocked or removed, doctors suspended and smears generated.
Let us examine the article written by Daniel Jolley and Pia Lamberty in the publication The Conversation. In the article they state: "One conspiracy theory proposes that the coronavirus is actually a bio-weapon engineered by the CIA as a way to wage war on China. Others are convinced that the UK and US governments introduced the coronavirus as a way to make money from a potential vaccine." They even provide a link not to any academic or scholarly research but to The Independent newspaper online.
The article by Jolley and Lamberty refers to some journal articles that explain how conspiracy theories become prevalent in times of crisis and introduces antisemitism as a potential consequence. However, when they make these generalisations they do not provide the links that that raises concerns about the World Health Organisations connections to donors such as the Gates Foundation, GAVI, Novartis. These donors maybe benevolent but surely the public have the right to know that major donors to the WHO are pharmaceutical companies and foundations researching vaccines. Donors who are also influencing policy at the WHO! Is it therefore, outrageous that we should expect journalists and broadcasters to inform people of these potential conflicts?
In this brief overview of the suppression of information the article has looked at smear campaigns and the blinkered reporting of the media. What it has not yet done is look at the independent socialist journalists and their media. This is when things become rather alarming. Denise Welsh actress has raised concerns about the impact of Covid-19 measures on the well-being of other chronic health sufferers. I am not suggesting Denise is anti-mask but she raises valid points regarding the long term health of people as a result of Covid-19 becoming the focus and priority of the NHS.
In a tweet Denise says: "Just remember mums, dads and carers Sweden never closed schools. They've had 1.8 million children at school all the time zero deaths xxx."
Firstly, is Denise right about the number of school children at school during the crisis well one source In 2019, says there were roughly 1.2 million children in Sweden between 5 and 14 years old. Wikipedia using slightly older references and figures says there were 1,049,490 primary age students and 347,900 secondary age students. So in terms of pupils attending school Denise may well be right. So now for the the zero deaths element of her statement. It is assumed that Denise was referring to child deaths and not overall deaths which would obviously include adult fatalities. So is Denise correct about the number of child deaths, let us take a look: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1107913/number-of-coronavirus-deaths-in-sweden-by-age-groups/ there has been 1 death in Sweden of a child age 9 or under. Now here is the crux of my point Denise was challenged by Alex Tiffin a self-proclaimed independent journalist and socialist. If, Alex has studied journalism at university then I apologise for implying he might be a lesser journalist. Indeed many of his articles are informative. But in challenging Denise he made a questionable and poor comment: "There's been over 6000 deaths in Sweden Denise. That's a 6.8% fatality rate. Far higher than most developed countries. You're either misinformed or just outright lying." If, you are going to say that someone is misinformed or lying you should clarify what they mean by their statement? I am no journalist and I do not have access to celebrities but I will assume (safely I hope) that Denise was specifically referring to school age child deaths. We know there has been 1 death, but from my referencing we do not know if the child was of school age.
Alex then says the fatality rate is 6.8% and that is far higher than most developed countries. Well at the time of writing this and depending on how you define a developed country Sweden seems to be average in terms of overall fatalities: UK is 12.5%, Belgium 11.8%, France 10.0%, Italy 13.4%, Holland 8.7%, Canada 7.1%, Hungary 11.1% Spain is fractionally below at 6.6% The challenge by Alex Tiffin was to discredit Denise Welsh on Social Media. I am not sure of his motives but believe the facts I have presented are more damning of his statement that Denise is misinformed or lying. In other tweets or retweets he posts image of health care workers who are speaking out about their experience of caring for people during the Covid-19 crisis. Because their experience does not fit with the popular narrative he along with others sends links to their employers. The purpose being to have them disciplined. In one comment when referring to someone in a nurses uniform he calls them a carer. Perhaps, Alex is not old enough to remember that carers in uniform whether in hospital or care home setting were once called "Auxiliary Nurses"? Alex is not the only socialist or left leaning writer to attack those who question the popular narrative:
Earlier in this article I mentioned that people with genuine concerns were being labelled as fascists and conspiracy theorists. Will Black calls them "twats" and "fuckwits". He pushes the image of protesters believing in "Lizard People" because he wishes to discredit 1000s of people because they attended a rally that David Icke spoke at. What Will Black will never tell his audience is the names of the Doctors and Professors who stood on the same platform. Because he and others do not want to appear to give any credence to the demonstration. So why are socialists, left leaning voters and journalists overlooking the concerns of professors, doctors, epidemiologists and nurses? Why are they not doing research that creates balance and allows a reader to make an independent judgement or conduct their own research? Have the new socialists or democratic socialists become that which they say they despise? We now have a cancel culture that encourages people to withdraw their support for public figures after they have done or said something objectionable. For some it is a way that the disenfranchised can have a voice while for others it has become the blunt edged sword of intolerance. So to answer my own question why are socialists ignoring or smearing professors, doctors, epidemiologists and nurses? Well either consciously or sub-consciously Covid-19 is a convenient weapon to wield. As more covid-19 cases and deaths are reported the left leaning socialist who once believed that Iraq and Syria were false flags, deny out of convenience that the same might be said of the so-called pandemic. They ignore credible research, because with each new case or death they think they have the nails to hammer into a Tory Government. They ignore the harm being done to other NHS users because Covid is the "New Norm". Have we created a world where freedom to think and speak is to be feared? Where people are shamed into unemployment and poverty because they had the temerity to have independent thoughts!
